Coracobrachial bursa

Bursa musculi coracobrachialis

Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid

The coracobrachialis bursa is a small, oval or kidney-shaped synovial sac located in the subcoracoid space, deep to the conjoint tendon (of the coracobrachialis and short head of biceps brachii) and the tip of the coracoid process. It lies between the conjoint tendon (anteriorly) and the subscapularis tendon (posteriorly), reducing friction and allowing smooth shoulder motion.

The coracobrachialis bursa is distinct from the subcoracoid, subacromial, and subtendinous subscapularis bursae, though it may border or overlap the subacromial bursa due to the close confines of the subcoracoid space.
