The subtendinous bursa of infraspinatus is a constant, small synovial bursa located between the tendon of the infraspinatus muscle and the capsule of the shoulder joint, near the greater tubercle of the humerus. It serves to reduce friction where the infraspinatus tendon glides over the posterior aspect of the joint capsule during shoulder movements, such as external rotation.
