Definition

The cranio-orbital foramen (Foramen of Hyrtl) is a foramen in the lateral wall of the orbit, just anterior to the superior orbital fissure.

The cranio-orbital foramen contains an anastomosis between the anterior branch of the middle meningeal artery and the lacrimal artery.
