Definition

Fibular trochlea, a.k.a. peroneal tubercle, is an elevated bony area located on the lateral surface of the calcaneus bone. It sits in front of the middle of the lateral surface. The fibular trochlea is located between two bony grooves: one that carries the peroneus longus muscle tendon below and another that carries the peroneus brevis muscle tendon above, as they pass into the foot region.
