Definition
The hypochondriac region refers to an anatomical area of the abdomen. There are two hypochondriac regions: the right hypochondriac region and the left hypochondriac region. These regions are located on either side of the epigastric region and are situated below the lower ribs.
The right hypochondriac region contains organs such as the liver, gallbladder, and part of the right kidney, while the left hypochondriac region contains the spleen, part of the stomach, and part of the left kidney.
