The inferior trunk of brachial plexus is located in the floor of the posterior triangle of the neck and constitutes a part of the supraclavicular portion of the brachial plexus. It is formed by the union of the C8 and T1 nerve roots (ventral rami).

The supraclavicular portion of the brachial plexus is composed of three trunks: the superior, middle, and inferior trunks. Each of these trunks, including the inferior one, divides into two divisions: an anterior division and a posterior division.
