The inferior trunk of the brachial plexus splits into an anterior and a posterior division. The posterior division of inferior trunk of brachial plexus joins with the posterior divisions of the superior and middle trunks in the axilla to form the posterior cord of the brachial plexus.

Importantly, no nerve branches originate directly from the divisions of the brachial plexus.
