- Related terms: Lacrimal groove; Lacrimal groove (Maxilla)
Definition
The lacrimal groove of maxilla is a pronounced indentation or groove located in front of the opening of the maxillary sinus, on the nasal side of maxilla. It transforms into the nasolacrimal canal, as it articulates with the descending process of lacrimal bone and the lacrimal process of the inferior nasal concha. This canal accommodates the nasolacrimal duct, which channels tears into the inferior nasal meatus.
