Lateral root of median nerve
Radix lateralis nervi mediani
Definition
The lateral root of median nerve is one of the two roots that form the median nerve, the other being the medial root. The lateral root arises from the lateral cord of the brachial plexus, which contains fibers from the C5, C6, and C7 spinal nerves. This root joins with the medial root, which arises from the medial cord (containing fibers from C8 and T1), to form the median nerve in the axilla.
The median nerve is a major peripheral nerve that supplies motor and sensory innervation to parts of the flexor side of the forearm and the hand.
