Left lumbar part of diaphragm

Pars lumbalis sinistra diaphragmatis

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The left lumbar part of the diaphragm refers to the posterior attachment of the muscle of left hemidiaphragm to the lumbar vertebrae.

The left lumbar part of the diaphragm is primarily composed of the left crus of diaphragm which originates from the anterolateral surfaces of the upper lumbar vertebrae and the intervertebral discs, and from the left medial and left lateral arcuate ligaments (ligaments previously termed as lumbocostal arches or Haller's arches).
