Olfactory sulcus

Sulcus olfactorius

Definition

The olfactory sulcus is found on the lower surface of the frontal lobe, specifically known as the orbital surface. This sulcus holds the olfactory tract and bulb. Moreover, the olfactory artery runs within the olfactory sulcus, providing blood supply to the olfactory tract and bulb. Essentially, this front-to-back sulcus acts as a border, dividing the medial side, which contains the gyrus rectus (or straight gyrus), from the lateral side, which encompasses the orbital sulci and gyri.
