The oral region is defined as the anatomical area encompassing the lips, oral cavity, and associated structures. Specifically, it includes the upper and lower lip mucosa (including the vermilion border), buccal (cheek) mucosa, alveolar and gingival mucosa of both jaws, vestibule of the mouth (maxillary and mandibular), dorsum, border/lateral, and ventral surfaces of the tongue, floor of the mouth, hard and soft palate, and the retromolar area.
