Tuberculum pharyngeum

Definition
The pharyngeal tubercle is a noticeable bony bump found on the inferior surface of the basilar part of occipital bone, positioned roughly 1 cm ahead of the front edge of the foramen magnum. It acts as the attachment point for a long, fibrous strip known as the pharyngeal raphe, to which all the pharyngeal constrictor muscles are connected.
