Posterior region of elbow
Regio posterior cubiti
- Latin synonym: Regio cubitalis posterior
- Synonym: Posterior cubital region
Definition
The posterior region of elbow is the area at the back of the elbow joint. It is defined by the prominent olecranon process of the ulna, which forms the bony tip of the elbow and serves as a key palpable landmark. Medial to the olecranon lies the cubital tunnel, a fibro-osseous passageway that allows for the passage of the ulnar nerve.
