The posterior talofibular ligament (PTFL) is one of the three primary components of of the lateral collateral ligament of ankle (lateral ankle ligament complex), along with the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and the calcaneofibular ligament (CFL).

The posterior talofibular ligament originates from the from the depression at the medial and back part of the fibular malleolus and inserts horizontally onto a the lateral tubercle of talus, a prominent tubercle on the posterior surface of the talus immediately lateral to the groove for the tendon of the Flexor hallucis longus. It is located deep to the fibular tendons and adjacent to the joint capsule.
