Retinaculum tendinis
Definition
A retinaculum is a thickened band of deep fascia that holds tendons close to bones or joints, preventing them from bowstringing during movement. Common examples include the flexor and extensor retinacula of the wrist and the superior and inferior extensor retinacula of the ankle.
