Definition

The sternal head of sternocleidomastoid muscle is a round fasciculus, tendinous in front, fleshy behind, arising from the upper part of the front of the manubrium sterni and then coursing superiorly, laterally, and posteriorly to unit with the clavicular head of sternocleidomastoid muscle.
