Subclavian plexus
Plexus subclavius
Definition
Subclavian plexus refers to a meshwork of post-ganglionic sympathetic neurons which invest around the subclavian artery, on either side. These post-ganglionic sympathetic neurons are derived from the inferior cervical ganglion or the cervicothoracic (stellate) ganglion and the ansa subclavia.
The subclavian plexus spreads out to give sympathetic branches that surround the internal thoracic artery.
