Definition
The posterior compartment of the leg is divided further into deep and superficial compartments:
- Deep Posterior Compartment
- popliteus
- flexor hallucis longus
- flexor digitorum longus
- tibialis posterior
- Superficial Posterior Compartment
- gastrocnemius
- soleus
- plantaris
The compartment contains the plantar flexors, supplied by the tibial nerve and the posterior tibial artery
