The thyrohyoid branch of hypoglossal nerve consists of fibers from the first cervical nerve (C1) that join the hypoglossal nerve. As the hypoglossal nerve descends and curves forward toward the tongue, these C1 fibers branch off to supply the thyrohyoid muscle, one of the infrahyoid muscles.
