Axillary region

Regio axillaris

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The axillary region corresponds to the anatomical area located at the junction between the thoracic limb and the trunk. It is bounded by the medial aspect of the arm, the thoracic wall, and the pectoral and scapular muscles. It notably contains the axillary vessels, the brachial plexus, and lymph nodes. Its organization varies depending on the species.
