Hepatocystic duct

Ductus hepatocystici

Definition

Antoine Micheau

Variably in carnivores and ruminantes, the term hepatocystic duct refers to one or more small biliary channels that may connect the hepatic parenchyma (liver) directly to the gallbladder, bypassing the major hepatic ducts. These are generally considered accessory ducts and are not consistently present in all species.
