Hollow of stifle

Poples

Definition

The hollow of stiffle (Poples) corresponds to the human popliteal fossa, located at the rear part of the knee. In domestic animals the knee joint is in permanent semi-flexion and the muscles of the caudal region of the thigh are extremely developed. As a result, they cover a more or less important part of the leg, according to the species, and the popliteal fossa is burried in the depth of the region called 'the gluteal fold' or better 'the popliteal region' (Regio poplitea).
