Definition
The orbitalis muscle is a smooth muscle composed of 3 layers. The deep layer is made up of circular fibers located in the periorbita and helping to protrude the eyeball. The other two layers are made up of longitudinal fibers, and are known as the superior and inferior tarsal muscles.
