Proximal angle of anteversion
Proximal angle of anteversion
- Acronym: PAA
Definition
The proximal angle of anteversion is a measurement used to assess angular deformities of the femur and provide guidance for corrections. It is determined from multiplanar reconstructed CT images of the femur. A transverse plane is used to visualize the entire diaphysis of the femur as a straight cylinder by scrolling through sequential images.
The proximal angle of anteversion is defined as the difference between the femoral neck anteversion angle and the distal angle of anteversion.
Newman and Voss 2017 found that the proximal angle of anteversion in healthy English Staffordshire Bull Terriers was 7.94 ± 1.39°.
