Definition
Sternopericardial ligaments are fibrous bands in veterinary anatomy that connect the fibrous pericardium to the sternum, helping to stabilize and anchor the heart within the thoracic cavity, particularly in domestic mammals.
The sternopericardial ligaments may be single (horses) or multiples (ruminants).
