Transverse crural tract

Tractus cruralis transversus

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The transverse crural tract is a small bundle of axons originating from the brachium of the rostral colliculus. It crosses the surface of the cerebral crus, located in the cerebral peduncle of the midbrain, anterior to the oculomotor nerve, and terminates in a nucleus situated medial to the substantia nigra. Axons from this nucleus then project to the oculomotor nucleus and the tectum.
