膝关节外侧股胫间室位于股骨外侧髁与胫骨外侧平台的关节面之间，由外侧半月板将两者分隔。
多种结构共同维持外侧股胫关节的稳定性与功能：
1. 外侧半月板：该纤维软骨结构在股骨与胫骨之间起缓冲作用，有助于负荷分布与吸收冲击。
2. 外侧副韧带（LCL）：该韧带从股骨外侧上髁延伸至腓骨头，为膝关节提供外侧稳定性。
3. 髂胫束（ITB）：该厚实的筋膜束从髂嵴延伸至胫骨外侧髁，有助于前外侧稳定性。
