定义
蝶骨大翼脑面是指其上表面。它构成蝶骨体两侧颅中窝底的一部分。蝶骨大翼脑面与颞骨鳞部共同形成颅中窝的凹陷，容纳大脑左右两侧的颞叶。
蝶骨的这一区域含有数个重要孔道，作为脑神经的通行管道。其中包括圆孔，上颌神经经此孔穿行至翼腭窝。在其后外侧附近，有卵圆孔，下颌神经经此孔进入颞下窝。该孔还允许副脑膜动脉、岩小神经以及连通海绵窦与翼静脉丛的导血管静脉通过。再向后外侧，有棘孔，为脑膜中动脉及下颌神经脑膜支进入颅腔提供通道。蝶骨大翼脑面上还存在其他较小的孔，包括蝶导静脉孔和颞骨岩部孔。
