定义
髋臼指数是用于评估犬髋关节解剖学的一项测量指标，尤其用于评价髋臼顶的外侧斜度，可用于髋关节发育不良的评分。髋臼指数由横断面二维CT图像确定。检查时犬取背卧位，髋关节伸展、内收并轻度内旋。测量在三张连续图像上进行，所选图像须包含髋臼窝、轮廓清晰的髋臼月状面承重区、圆形的股骨头及股骨头凹。
髋臼指数为髋臼深度与髋臼宽度之比乘以100。宽度沿月状面背外侧缘至腹外侧缘之间的连线测量。深度自月状面背内侧缘垂直量至上述宽度连线。
Lopez等（2008）发现，存在髋关节松弛的成年混血犬的髋臼指数为26.10 ± 2.58°（范围11.10 - 35.30）。
Andronescu等（2015）发表了髋臼指数与骨关节炎评分的对应结果：
骨关节炎评分0分：31.22 ± 4.23
骨关节炎评分1分：31.91 ± 3.42
骨关节炎评分2分：34.16 ± 1.61
骨关节炎评分3分：22.134 ± 8.66
Andronescu等（2015）发表了46只犬在各年龄段所有骨关节炎评分合并后的髋臼指数：
16周龄：30.63 ± 4.59
