Hepatic nodes

Nodi hepatici

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The hepatic lymph nodes are located near the hilum of the liver and in the hepatoduodenal ligament. Their lymph is taken partly from the liver, and partly from adjacent lymph nodes like the cystic nodes and the nodes of anterior border of omental foramen.

In the gastric nodal stations (Japanese Gastric Cancer Association), the hepatic lymph nodes are called hepatoduodenal ligament nodes (12) and include three separate groups:

  • 12a: lymph nodes located along the proper hepatic artery, in the caudal half between the confluence of the right and left hepatic ducts and the upper pancreatic margin

  • 12b: lymph nodes located along the bile duct, in the caudal half between the confluence of the right and left hepatic ducts and the upper border of the pancreas

  • 12p: lymph nodes along the portal vein in the caudal half between the confluence of the right and left hepatic ducts and the upper border of the pancreas
