Infratemporal crest

Crista infratemporalis

Definition

The infratemporal crest of greater wing is a ridge that separates the horizontally arranged infratemporal surface of the greater wing of the sphenoid bone from its vertically positioned temporal surface. The temporal surface is located in the temple region of the skull (i.e. the temporal fossa), whereas the infratemporal surface forms part of the infratemporal fossa’s roof.
