Lacrimal process
Processus lacrimalis
Definition
The lacrimal process of the inferior nasal concha is a small, pointed protrusion positioned at the anterior part of the superior border of the inferior nasal concha bone. It articualtes or connects with the descending process emanating from the lacrimal bone. The lacrimal bone is a small, thin bone tht contributes to the medial wall of the orbital cavity. The junction between its descending process and the lacrimal process of the inferior nasal concha plays a critial role in supporting and shaping the nasolacrimal canal, which is important for the drainage of tears from the eye to the nasal cavity.
