- Synonym: Proximal adductor magnus tendon
Definition
The proximal tendon of the adductor magnus originates from the ischial tuberosity, for the proximal insertion of the Ischiocondylar part of adductor magnus (hamstring part) that is similar to the hamstring muscles.
This tendon is structurally and functionally significant, as it shares a common origin with the hamstring muscles and contributes to both hip adduction and extension.
