- Synonym: Superior orbital margin
- Related terms: Supraorbital margin (Orbital cavity); Supraorbital margin (Orbit); Supraorbital margin (Orbital margin)
Definition
The supraorbital margin is the upper edge of the square-shaped opening at the front of the eye socket or the orbital cavity. It is made up of the frontal bone. Right above this margin, you will find the superciliary arch on both sides of the forehead.
The supraorbital margin is thin and prominent in the outer two-thirds, but it is more rounded in the inner one-third. You can find a supraorbital notch or supraorbital foramen where these two parts meet, and the supraorbital nerve and blood vessels come out through this spot to supply the forehead and the upper eyelid.
