Definition
The transverse pontine fibers are fibers in the basilar part of the pons that arise from the pontine nuclei. These fibers cross transversely and project to the contralateral cerebellum through the middle cerebellar peduncle.
The transverse pontine fibers constitute the pontocerebellar tract.
