Fovea trochlearis

Definition
Trochlear fovea is a small depression found near the nasal side of inferior surface of the frontal bone’s orbital plate. It serves as an attachment site for the cartilaginous pulley of the superior oblique muscle, which is essential for moving the eye. Sometimes, a tiny bony prominence known as the trochlear spine is present at the trochlear fovea, providing a spot where the cartilaginous pulley can attach.
