Definition
The visceral pelvic lymph nodes are associated with the pelvic viscera and empty into the parietal lymph nodes of the pelvis (mainly internal iliac nodes). These lymph nodes include:
Paravesical nodes located along the urinary bladder, and drain the bladder and part of the prostate. They are subdivided into three subgroups:
Parauterine nodes: located on the sides of the uterus, specifically within the broad ligament of the uterus, and drain the lymph from the body of the uterus and cervix
Paravaginal nodes: located on the sides of the vagina and drain a part of it.
Pararectal nodes: located on the sides on the rectum, directly on the musculature, and drain the rectum and part of the vagina or prostate/seminal vesicles
