Anticlinal vertebra
Vertebra anticlinalis
Definition
The anticlinal vertebra is a point in the caudal thoracic vertebral column at which vertebral anatomic features change: the spinous process is perpendicular to the body and the preceding vertebrae incline caudally.
It may be used as a point of reference in diagnostic imaging studies but differs between species and in subspecies (T16 in the horse, T11 in the big or medium dogs, T10 in small dogs, and T11 to T13 in the ox).
