Caudal part

Pars caudalis

  • Related terms: Caudal part of lesser tubercle

Definition

The lesser tubercle is located on the craniomedial part of the proximal extremity of humerus. It gives insertion for the muscles of the shoulder blade (infraspinous and supraspinous muscles). It is separated from the head of humerus by the neck, and separated from the craniolateral greater tubercle by the intertubercular groove.

In ruminants and horses, the lesser tubercle is separated into a cranial and a caudal part.
