Greater tubercle

Tuberculum majus

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The greater tubercle is located on the craniolateral  part of the proximal extremity of humerus, separated from the head of humerus by the neck of humerus. It gives insertion for the muscles of the scapula (infraspinatus and supraspinatus muscles).

The greater tubercle is divided into cranial and caudal parts in ungulates.
