Arteria hepatica
Definition
The hepatic artery arises from the celiac artery. It courses cranially and to the right toward the liver, usually lying in close association with the portal vein and the bile duct within the hepatoduodenal ligament. It enters the liver at the porta hepatis and branches to supply the various liver lobes. It also gives rise to the cystic artery, which supplies the gallbladder.
