Hepatic artery

The hepatic artery arises from the celiac artery. It courses cranially and to the right toward the liver, usually lying in close association with the portal vein and the bile duct within the hepatoduodenal ligament. It enters the liver at the porta hepatis and branches to supply the various liver lobes. It also gives rise to the cystic artery, which supplies the gallbladder.

The branches of hepatic artery are:

• Lateral right branch

• Medial right branch

• Left branch

• Right gastric artery with cystic artery

• Gastroduodenal artery
