Metatarsus

Metatarsus

Definition

The metatarsus is similar to the metacarpus except that the thumb is usually missing in Carnivorous and Glires, as in Ungulates: it is more or less vertical in domestic Mammals,

In great Ungulates, the metatarsal region is made of the dorsal bony region formed mainly by the metatarsal bone(s) (Regio metatarsi dorsalis) and the plantar tendinous region (Regio metatarsi palmaris).
