Ventral

Ventralis

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

Ventral refers to the parts of the neck, trunk, and tail that are located toward the lower side of domestic animals in the normal standing position, that is, toward the belly. It also applies to the surfaces of organs or sections facing this direction. It is opposed to the term dorsal.

For the limbs, the term ventral is not used: palmar is applied to the manus and plantar to the hindfoot.
