Dorsal
Dorsalis
Definition
Dorsal refers to the parts of the neck and trunk that are superior in domestic animals in the normal standing position, and so directed toward the back, as well as the surfaces of organs or sections facing this direction. The term also applies to the corresponding surface of the head, the back of the tail, and the back of the hand and foot.
It is opposed to ventral for the neck, trunk, and tail, but to palmar for the manus and plantar for the hindfoot.
