Sagittal

Sagittalis

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The sagittal plane is a vertical plane that divides the body into right and left halves. It may be located at the center of the body, dividing it into two equal halves (in which case it is called the median plane). The term sagittal is sometimes applied to the plane that divides a limb, a finger, or an isolated organ into two approximately symmetrical halves.
