Ventral sacroiliac ligaments
Ligamentorum sacroiliaca ventralia
Definition
The ventral sacroiliac ligament is made of numerous and short fibrous beams that constitute in certain species (Men, Carnivorous) two groups, cranial and caudal, often considered as distinct ligaments (Ligamenta sacroiliaca ventralia). These beams double the thin articular capsule, going obliquely from the ilium to the sacrum, along the ventral margin of the auricular surfaces of these bones. They are in great part covered by the iliac muscle.
