Membrana vitrea
Definition
The vitreous membrane is a layer of condensed collagen fibers encapsulating the vitreous humor. It is in contact with and adheres to the posterior surface of the lens and retina. Its attachments are most pronounced at the ora serrata and around the disc of optic nerve.
