Disc of optic nerve
Discus nervus optici
Definition
The disc of optic nerve is the area where the optic fibers leave the retina to plunge through the area cribrosa sclerae to form the optic nerve. This area is well-defined and whitish in color. There are no photoreceptors in this area.
