Zonular fibres

Fibrae zonulares

Definition

Felipe Barona Lopez

The zonular fibers anchor the equator lentis to the ciliary body. Together, they form the ciliary zonule. They are composed of glycoprotein microfibrils. They attach to the lens on either side of its equator in the capsule of lens, and to the ciliary body on the ciliary processes and on the ciliary part of the retina.

The zonular fibers are separated by zonular spaces around the equator lentis, through which the aqueous humor passes.
